Zimbabwe: Knife Attack At Matapi Flats After Alleged Love Triangle Dispute
A man in Harare is accused of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a co-tenant during a dispute over his wife.
In Harare's Mbare suburb, a 26-year-old man, Tatenda Mazambani, has been charged with attempted murder following an incident at Matapi Flats. The dispute arose after Mazambani's wife reportedly went out with another man, 23-year-old Alex Ngandu, prompting a confrontation between the two. The altercation escalated when Mazambani allegedly stabbed Ngandu in the stomach with a knife, resulting in serious injury.
The court hearing revealed that the stabbing occurred on the morning of 21 February, at approximately 7 am. During the confrontation, emotions ran high as Mazambani confronted Ngandu about the earlier outing with his wife. Prosecutors detailed that the attack led to Ngandu suffering a deep wound, necessitating immediate medical attention at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital. The severity of the situation heightened as law enforcement was notified, ultimately leading to Mazambaniโs arrest.
Currently, Mazambani remains in custody and is expected to appear in court again on 16 March. This case sheds light on the complexities of relationship conflicts within communities and raises concerns about domestic disputes escalating to violence, highlighting the need for addressing underlying issues through mediation and support services to prevent such occurrences in the future.
