A 34-year-old man from Sumaré, São Paulo, was arrested after a disturbing incident in which he kidnapped his 2-year-old daughter and threatened to set her and himself on fire. The crime occurred after the man, who had been separated from the child's mother since December, took the girl out for a stroll and began sending threatening messages to his ex-partner about his intentions. As the situation escalated, the police were alerted, leading to an urgent response and subsequent chase.

During the police pursuit, the man lost control of his vehicle, which flipped over on a dirt road and left items scattered around the scene. Fortunately, the child experienced only minor injuries and was later taken to receive medical attention before being reunited with her mother. Footage of the incident, captured by local affiliate EPTV, revealed the wrecked vehicle and highlighted the dangerous lengths to which the suspect went in his attempts to evade law enforcement.

He was arrested in the act, facing serious charges including attempted homicide, kidnapping, and threats. As of the latest reports, he remains in custody, awaiting a custody hearing while the police have requested preventive detention to ensure the safety of the child and the community.
