The São Paulo Public Ministry announced his death, expressing its condolences. Born in Nova Viçosa, Bahia, Tourinho Filho graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Federal University of Bahia and joined the São Paulo Public Ministry on October 27, 1954. He served in various roles throughout his more than two-decade career until his retirement on October 25, 1980.
In addition to his public service, Tourinho Filho was a prominent figure in academia, dedicating his life to teaching and producing significant legal literature. He authored several influential works that became staples in legal education, including "Manual de Processo Penal," "Prática de Processo Penal," and "Comentários à Lei dos Juizados Criminais." His contributions to the field of law were recognized in 2022 when he was awarded the title of emeritus professor at Uniara (University of Araraquara) after more than fifty years of teaching at the institution.
