Police Operation: Graffiti Sprayers Disrupt Munich–Augsburg Railway Line
Graffiti sprayers caused a one-hour disruption on the Munich–Augsburg railway line, affecting 70 trains due to a police operation.
On Monday afternoon, the Munich–Augsburg railway line was shut down for an hour due to the presence of graffiti sprayers near the tracks. The disruption occurred from 4:55 PM to 6:09 PM, affecting around 70 trains, with two complete cancellations and other trains delayed for varying durations. The Federal Police reported a staggering total of 2,622 minutes of delays.
The incident came to light when a passing train driver noticed two individuals spray-painting a noise protection wall near Mammendorf at about 4:50 PM. He promptly reported this to the emergency control center of Deutsche Bahn, which led to immediate action from the Federal Police, resulting in the complete closure of the railway line to conduct a search for the suspects.
Despite extensive search efforts, including the deployment of a tracking dog, the police were unable to locate the graffiti sprayers. It is reported that the suspects vandalized a nine-square-meter area on the protection wall, causing approximately 1,800 euros in damage according to police estimates. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about vandalism impacting public transport and the resources expended by law enforcement in response.
