The government has adopted: there will be a central database of interpretations of local taxes and fees
The Polish government has approved a project to create a central database for interpretations of local taxes and fees, improving accessibility and standardization.
During a recent meeting, Poland's Council of Ministers approved a draft amendment to the tax ordinance that focuses on local taxes and fees collected by self-governing entities. The amendment mandates that all interpretations regarding these taxes, provided by local authorities, will be compiled and published in a new central database. This database is set to be made available to the public, enhancing transparency.
Currently, interpretations related to local taxes are published on individual municipal websites, with 2,479 such interpretations existing across the country. The proposed central database aims to consolidate these interpretations, currently handled by the EUREKA system, making it easier for taxpayers to find consistent and authoritative guidance on local tax matters.
The initiative signifies the government's commitment to improving tax administration and accessibility for citizens, ensuring that interpretations are uniformly applied, which could also reduce discrepancies and disputes in local tax assessments. This move is expected to aid local governments in providing clear guidance and enhance public compliance with tax obligations.
