In Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, a couple aged 19 has been denounced by the Public Prosecutor's Office for allegedly physically assaulting their 1-year-old and 8-month-old baby. The formal accusation was filed on February 27, in the Domestic and Family Violence Court after the alleged abuse occurred on the night of February 15 within their home. The couple reportedly struck the child to stop her from crying during the night, leading to severe injuries.

The day following the incident, the baby was taken to a local emergency care unit with multiple injuries, including a bruise on her eye, a head injury, bite marks on her back, and a fractured femur. Medical professionals, concerned about the severity of the injuries, conducted imaging tests that confirmed the fracture, necessitating immobilization. The baby remains hospitalized at Hospital da Vida, with her condition being closely monitored.

Health professionals at the emergency unit were suspicious of the explanations given by the parents regarding how the injuries occurred, prompting an immediate investigation. This case highlights critical issues regarding child safety and family violence, raising public awareness about the need for vigilance and intervention in suspected cases of abuse, particularly in vulnerable populations like infants.
