ESY: The platform has opened for 1,696 appointments – 5,000 permanent hires and 3,000 auxiliary staff for 2026
The application platform for 1,696 healthcare positions in Greece has opened, aiming for swift appointments to enhance the workforce in the health sector.
On March 3, the application platform for filling 1,696 positions in healthcare facilities across Greece was opened, allowing submissions until March 18, 2026. This recruitment announcement pertains to positions for the year 2025, reflecting the government's initiative to address personnel shortages in the health sector. Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistocleous highlighted the importance of expediting the recruitment process, ensuring that appointments do not take years to finalize.
The Deputy Minister noted the changes in procedures aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the hiring process without altering the role of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP). The new framework allows for quicker transitions to secondary candidates if the first-choice candidate declines the position. In some instances, the results from previous announcements can be utilized for the same positions, which contributes to a more agile recruitment strategy.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Greece's healthcare workforce, which has faced significant challenges, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The planned addition of 5,000 permanent hires and 3,000 auxiliary staff by 2026 demonstrates the government's commitment to improving healthcare services and reducing the burden on existing personnel, ultimately aiming to enhance patient care across the country.
