VIDEO: couple of owls caught in a moment of 'affection' during lunar eclipse in the interior of SP
A couple of owls was filmed showing affection against the backdrop of a lunar eclipse in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil.
On the morning of this Tuesday (3), a couple of owls was captured in a heartwarming scene during the beginning of a partial lunar eclipse in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo. The video shows the owls engaging in what appears to be courting behavior, creating a charming tableau set against the backdrop of the red-tinged moon. This event coincided with the astronomical phenomenon commonly referred to as the 'Blood Moon', as the Earth's shadow partially obscured the moon's surface, giving it a unique reddish appearance.
The 'Blood Moon' lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is positioned directly between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow on the natural satellite. This alignment can only occur during a full moon phase. As the moon enters the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, known as the umbra, a total eclipse can occur, during which the moon may take on an orange-red hue. On this occasion, the phenomenon was observable in Brazil only partially, allowing local viewers to witness this remarkable sight.
Filmed by João Selare of TV TEM, the charming interaction between the owls not only delights viewers but also highlights the intersection of nature's wonders with astronomical events. Such moments emphasize the beauty and intimacy found in wildlife, especially during significant celestial happenings. The footage serves as a reminder of the intricate connections between nature and the rhythms of the cosmos, inviting viewers to appreciate both.
