Parliament: Bill on the electoral district for expatriates in the plenary
On Tuesday, the Greek Parliament introduced a bill from the Ministry of the Interior to define the electoral district for expatriates and facilitate voting from abroad for Greek citizens.
The Greek Parliament is set to discuss a new bill introduced by the Ministry of the Interior, which aims to establish an electoral district for expatriates known as 'The Definition of the Electoral District of Expatriate Hellenism'. This legislation will allow Greeks living outside the country to exercise their voting rights through postal voting in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The draft legislation has been approved by majority from the relevant committees, particularly supported by the ruling New Democracy party. However, it faced opposition from the Communist Party and the New Left, while parties such as PASOK-KINAL, SYRIZA, the Greek Solution, 'Victory', and 'Freedom Route' are yet to clarify their positions during the plenary session.
