Firefighters in Recife have resumed search efforts for Edvane Cesar do Carmo, a 51-year-old rowing student from Sport Club do Recife, who went missing on the morning of Monday, October 2. Edvane fell into the Capibaribe River during a training session while using a kayak without a life jacket. Despite extensive search efforts on the first day, including boats, kayaks, and helicopter assistance, Edvane has yet to be found, compelling the fire department to temporarily suspend operations late that day.

Throughout the night, Edvane's family, supported by friends, organized additional search efforts utilizing three boats and a thermal camera-equipped drone, continuing their quest until the early hours of Tuesday morning. Early on Tuesday, firefighters recommenced their search, focusing on a two-kilometer stretch of the river between the Torre Bridge, where Edvane went missing, and the headquarters of the rowing club. The search is being conducted cautiously, with firefighters ensuring safety protocols while attempting to locate Edvane.
