Seeing the Unseen Latgale in a Mosaic of Views
Latvian photographers showcase an exhibition titled 'Gorā' emphasizing the beauty of overlooked details in nature.
The exhibition features the works of eleven photographers from the Latgale region, held at the Gors cultural center. Among them, Ivars Daugulis displays three abstract photographs that highlight natural textures often unnoticed in everyday life. His works focus on micro-details, bringing attention to elements that blend into the background, showcasing the beauty of local nature. Juris Laizāns, a founding member of the Latgale photographers' association, contributes macro photographs that magnify small creatures and flowers, emphasizing their intricate details. Laizāns stresses the importance of perspective and color choice in his photography, aiming to draw attention to the minute aspects of nature that typically go unnoticed. His technique involves using a macro lens, enabling him to capture close-up details without sacrificing quality. Overall, this exhibition serves not just as a display of artistic talent but as an invitation for viewers to slow down and appreciate the natural world around them. It reinforces the cultural significance of the Latgale region's landscapes and invites a broader audience to recognize and celebrate the often overlooked beauty in their surroundings.
