Although she chose not to reveal her exact birthdate, she shared that she grew up in the 1990s in a neighborhood just a short distance from the Mexico-United States border. Her educational background includes a degree in Hispanic American Language and Literature, a master's in Sociocultural Studies, and she is currently pursuing a doctorate in Society, Space, and Power at the Autonomous University of Baja California, where she also teaches.

Correa's writing has gained recognition for its 'hypnotic and beautiful' prose, according to the award jury, and she has received several accolades throughout her career. Among her prior achievements is the XX National Tale Award Juan José Arreola for her work 'Mentiras que no te conté.'
