Risk of Storm in Jämtland Mountains
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute warns of high winds and potential storm conditions in the Jämtland Mountains accompanied by heavy snowfall.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a warning regarding the possibility of strong gusts or storm conditions in large parts of Jämtland County. The weather in the mountain range is expected to feature very strong winds combined with significant snowfall, particularly in the border areas. As conditions deteriorate, the winds are forecasted to pick up in the afternoon, with potential storm strength in local areas.
Starting Tuesday evening, winds are expected to increase in the lower terrain of the mountains in Jämtland, creating a risk of severe wind gusts. The stormy weather will continue to intensify overnight, spreading to areas east of the mountains. Residents and travelers in the affected regions are advised to prepare for hazardous conditions, which pose risks for outdoor activities and travel.
Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for gale force winds in the Northern Quark, Northern Botten Sea, and Southern Botten Sea. The SMHI recommends that people stay informed about ongoing weather updates as the situation develops, especially for those in vulnerable areas prone to the impacts of severe weather.
