Mádl, Kaiser and more. The emotions of Czech Lion winners captured in an outdoor Prague exhibition

An outdoor exhibition in Prague showcases photographs capturing the emotions of last year's Czech Lion winners shortly after receiving their awards.

An outdoor photographic exhibition at the Congress Center in Prague highlights the emotions of last year's Czech Lion award winners, captured just moments after they received their lion statues. The series, taken by photographer Nguyen Phuong Thao, will be on display until mid-March. This exhibition coincides with the upcoming Czech Film and Television Academy award ceremony scheduled for March 14, which will also take place at the same venue.

Nguyen Phuong Thao, a staff photographer for Reflex magazine, captured these emotional moments during a few minutes in an improvised studio at the backend of the Rudolfina, where the awards ceremony transpired. Her large-format portraits reveal genuine feelings of surprise, emotion, and pure joy. The unique setup for the shoot included interesting lighting, allowing for a simple yet effective concept that underscores the spontaneity and natural reactions of the award winners.

Among the notable portraits is the director of the award-winning film from last year. The exhibition not only celebrates cinematic achievements but also provides insight into the personal experiences of those recognized, making it a poignant reminder of the triumphs in the Czech film industry. As the award ceremony approaches, this exhibition serves both as a celebration of artistic excellence and a moment to reflect on the impact of these awards on the careers of filmmakers and actors alike.
