Prime Minister Takaichi denies involvement with Sanae Token: 'I have never approved it'
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has denied any involvement with the cryptocurrency 'Sanae Token' that uses her name, asserting she has not authorized it.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan publicly denied any involvement with a cryptocurrency called 'Sanae Token,' which has been traded using her name. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed that she is completely unaware of this token and has never given any approval for its existence. This denial follows public confusion regarding her name's usage in relation to the token.
The 'Sanae Token' is part of the 'Japan is Back Project,' which is associated with entrepreneur Yuji Mizoguchi. The project's goal is to convey user opinions to policymakers, including Takaichi, and use this feedback in policy-making processes. However, Takaichi has made it clear that her office has not been informed about the details or implications of this cryptocurrency, further distancing herself from it.
On the same day of her denial, Takaichi emphasized the importance of clarifying any misunderstandings among the public regarding her involvement with the token. Given the potential for misinformation when public figures are associated with financial products, her swift action aims to mitigate any confusion and ensure that the public is accurately informed about her lack of connection to 'Sanae Token.'
