On March 3, as spring begins in South Korea with the start of the new school semester, Wonchon Elementary School in the Seocho District of Seoul welcomed 186 new first graders in a ceremony full of anticipation and joy. The event was filled with emotional moments as the first graders entered through the school gates, a mix of nervousness and excitement evident on their faces. As they donned handmade crowns to celebrate the occasion, the warmth of their teachers’ welcoming messages brought smiles back to their faces, supported by enthusiastic applause from their family members.

To convey a heartfelt message to the newcomers, the school principal chose to read a children’s storybook titled "We Are the Popular First Graders" rather than delivering a conventional welcome speech. With a substantial enrollment figure, Wonchon Elementary School ranked third among 56 elementary schools in the Gangnam and Seocho districts, making it one of the larger institutions in the area, filled with the joyous sounds of children excitedly embarking on their educational journeys.
