A Patriot missile battery is scheduled to be transported to Karapathos today as part of Greece's initiative to bolster its air defense capabilities, particularly in light of escalating tensions in the Middle East. The decision comes ahead of the Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias's, imminent departure for Cyprus, where a joint defense doctrine between Greece and Cyprus has been activated in response to recent drone incursions intercepted at the British base in Akrotiri.

As a part of the operational readiness in Cyprus, two pairs of F-16 fighters are already stationed at Pafos airport, prepared to neutralize potential incoming threats. Additionally, naval units including the frigates Kimon and Psara are en route to Cyprus and are expected to arrive early tomorrow morning.
