Salvini in San Siro: "Enough abuses in public housing, record reassignments in 3 months"
Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini visited public housing in San Siro to announce new measures combating abuse of housing allocations.
Matteo Salvini, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in Italy, visited Aler housing units on Via Morgantini in the San Siro neighborhood to announce new measures aimed at eliminating abuses in public housing. During the visit, he highlighted the implementation of a new procedure designed to ensure that public housing is promptly reassigned to legitimate occupants. This procedure includes rapid eviction of unauthorized occupants and reallocation of housing within three months, with six units already managed under this new system.
Alan Rizzi, President of Aler Milano, also accompanied Salvini and indicated that the recent intervention targeted six residential units. He noted that, out of these, five are ready for allocation, while one has already been assigned. Rizzi emphasized that the implementation of this new approach marks a significant step forward in managing public housing and addressing issues of abuse. Both officials stressed the importance of these measures in ensuring that housing is available for those who genuinely need it.
The announcement comes in the wake of increasing concerns regarding the misuse of public housing resources in Italy. Salvini’s visit and the introduction of these measures signal the government’s commitment to reforming public housing policies. The ability to swiftly remove unauthorized occupants and reassign housing not only enhances housing availability but also restores public trust in the management of these valuable resources, allowing government officials to respond more effectively to the needs of vulnerable populations in urban areas.
