Generals stripped of CPPCC roles as China’s corruption clean-up continues
Top Chinese generals have lost their roles in the CPPCC as part of an ongoing anti-corruption campaign within the military.
In a significant development within the Chinese military, two high-ranking generals have had their positions within the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) revoked, highlighting the continuing efforts of the Chinese government to tackle corruption in its ranks. This dismissal marks a definitive downfall for General Han Weiguo, who previously held commanding roles in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including as the inaugural commander of the Central Theatre Command. His tenure is particularly noted for overseeing a major military parade that celebrated the PLA's 90th anniversary and showcased the strength of the Chinese military.
