Approximately 70,000 Brazilians are reported to live across the Middle East, as stated by the Brazilian embassy. Recently, communications have been strained, particularly in Iran, where the internet has been cut off, significantly impacting the ability of Brazilians to seek assistance remotely. The Brazilian ambassador in Iran, André Vera Guimarães, mentioned that any assistance requests must be made in person, reflecting the precarious situation on the ground.

The ambassador also highlighted that efforts have been made to facilitate the escape of Brazilians from Iran, as six football players from a local team were able to cross the border into Turkey. Despite the ongoing conflicts and risks associated with living in Iran, no additional Brazilians have expressed a desire to leave the country currently, indicating potential uncertainties or reluctances regarding evacuation.

In response to the situation, Brazilian officials, including Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, are actively engaging with diplomats from other nations, such as the United Arab Emirates, to assess the needs of Brazilian citizens in the region. The comments from the ambassador underscore the dangers present in the area, calling for residents to remain indoors as safety precautions during heightened violence, thereby illustrating the complex realities facing expatriates in conflict-affected zones.
