On March 6, 2026, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, will chair the 2026 edition of the Obafemi Awolowo Memorial Lecture. The event, which will take place at the Efunyela Hall located in Awolowo’s residence in Ikenne, Ogun State, is significant as it coincides with the posthumous birthday of Obafemi Awolowo, a revered figure in Nigerian history. The lecture, themed 'Politics as Future-Making: Awolowo and Leadership as Theory of Action', will be presented by Wale Adebanwi, the Presidential Penn Compact Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
