The city of Nova Friburgo, located in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is celebrating Women's Month with a variety of free public events organized by the municipal departments of Culture and Women. The agenda kicks off with the opening event titled 'Women are Art' on Saturday, March 7th, at Praça Dermeval Barbosa Moreira in the city center, aimed at highlighting female empowerment through cultural performances.
The opening day features an array of activities starting at 2 PM, including a live performance by Jozi Lucka singing Rita Lee's songs, followed by a dance performance by Júlia Vargas Gil, and comedic entertainment by character Palhaça Mequetrefa, who will perform an interactive comedy act. This event is designed not only to entertain but also to promote women's contributions to the arts, further enhancing community engagement and appreciation for female artists.
Throughout the month, additional cultural activities and performances will take place, continuing to spotlight various female artists and their works. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to recognizing women's roles in society and culture, fostering a supportive environment for women's expression in the arts, and encouraging public participation in these educational and celebratory events.
