Iran intensifies attacks on Israel and the U.S.: a 'double-edged sword'

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard has announced a significant escalation in attacks against Israel and the United States, targeting both military and civilian infrastructures following the assassination of Supreme Leader Khamenei.

On the evening of August 1, Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared its intention to escalate attacks against Israel and the United States, stating that enemy strikes would enter a new phase, threatening to turn land and sea into graves for invading terrorists. By August 2, they reported conducting 11 waves of attacks, suggesting a heightened military offensive in the region. The announcement follows the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which purportedly altered the country’s retaliatory stance from one of proportional response to broader attacks on not only military installations but also civilian facilities and infrastructure, especially in Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf states.
