Eric Dane's cause of death revealed
Actor Eric Dane's cause of death has been confirmed as respiratory failure linked to ALS, which he publicly diagnosed in 2025.
Eric Dane, the actor known for his role in 'Grey's Anatomy', passed away at the age of 53. According to reports, his cause of death was confirmed to be respiratory failure, which stemmed from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease he had been battling for some time. Although he publicly announced his diagnosis in April 2025, the aggressive progression of the disease had severely impacted his health, leading to his untimely demise on February 19.
Last summer, Dane experienced significant deterioration, where he disclosed that one of his hands had stopped functioning and expressed concerns about the potential failure of his other hand. Despite the challenges posed by ALS, he remained engaged with the community until the end, participating in an online panel discussing the disease in December. The panel showcased his courage and willingness to talk openly about the struggles associated with ALS, which he characterized as 'terrible' during the discussion.
In the same panel, he reflected on his role in the series 'Brilliant Minds', where he portrayed a firefighter living with ALS. Dane described this role as liberating, allowing him to bring visibility to his condition even as he dealt with it personally. His passing marks a significant loss to the acting community, and he is remembered not only for his talent but also for his advocacy surrounding ALS awareness.
