Top Performance from Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä in Invitation Competition

Finnish biathletes Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä secured third place in a biathlon relay event held in Stockholm, showcasing a strong performance against leading international competitors.

On Monday, following the Olympics, some of the world’s star biathletes gathered at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm for the invitation competition Skidskyttekampenin. Finland was represented by the relay team of Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä, who performed admirably, finishing in third place. This event provided a platform for athletes to compete in a friendly yet competitive environment post-Olympics.

The competition saw Norway's third team, consisting of Vetle Christiansen and Juni Arnekleiv, taking the top spot, while Norway's second team with Martin Uldal and Ingre Tandrevold secured second place. The race came down to an exciting final skiing leg, where Seppälä found himself battling against two Norwegian athletes. He crossed the finish line just 3.7 seconds behind Christiansen, solidifying a commendable performance for the Finnish team despite fierce competition.

In addition to the mixed relay, the Stockholm event featured short individual races for both men and women, attended only by those athletes who had missed the mixed relay finals. Austrian athlete Tamara Steiner claimed victory in the women's individual competition, while the men's event was won by a representative from the United States. This competition highlighted the continued prowess of biathlon athletes and set the stage for future events as the season progresses.
