A car caught fire on the Rio-Santos highway in São Paulo early on Monday, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In the early hours of Monday, a car caught fire on the Rio-Santos highway (SP-055), a major route along the coast of São Paulo. The incident occurred around 4:11 AM and led to the vehicle being moved to the shoulder of the road, resulting in a partial closure and the implementation of a traffic control operation known as 'Pare e Siga' to manage the flow. Fortunately, no individuals were injured in this incident.
The fire engulfed the vehicle, primarily affecting the front section, and videos captured during the event showcase the intensity of the flames. The fire was reportedly contained approximately 40 minutes after it began, with emergency measures having been put in place shortly after, to facilitate traffic movement safely. The 'Pare e Siga' operation was active in both directions of the highway until around 5:32 AM, after which normal traffic conditions resumed mid-morning.
By around 9:30 AM, traffic had returned to normal flow on the highway following a brief period of light congestion caused by the incident. The timely response from emergency services and the quick establishment of traffic controls contributed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring the safety of other drivers on the busy coastal route.
