STT: Missiles Have Hit Finnish Hotels in the Middle East
No Finns have been injured in missile strikes targeting hotels housing them in the Middle East, according to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The recent missile strikes in the Middle East have reportedly hit hotels where Finnish citizens were staying, but no injuries have been reported among them, as stated by Jussi Tanner, the head of the consular department at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Tanner emphasized that, while the risk of being caught in such strikes is considered low, it is still a concern that warrants attention. The Ministry has advised Finnish nationals in the region to remain calm and wait for the situation to stabilize over the next few days.
The Iranian Red Crescent has reported at least 555 fatalities in Iran due to these missile strikes, while retaliatory attacks by Iran have claimed lives in Israel and Persian Gulf countries. This escalation of violence underlines the growing hostilities in the region, where the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that over 2,600 Finns are currently in affected countries, with approximately 70 located in Iran.
Furthermore, the Ministry is facilitating communication with embassies in the affected regions and provides updates to those wishing to leave voluntarily, reflecting the serious nature of the situation. This development highlights the need for vigilance among Finnish travelers and reinforces the importance of travel advisories amidst ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
