Vallo and Droba are running for the Bratislava four-party coalition. SaS, PS, and Democrats also want to be in the future government
Bratislava Mayor Matúš Vallo has announced his candidacy for reelection, supported by a coalition of parties including SaS, Progresívne Slovensko, and the Democrats.
Matúš Vallo, the Mayor of Bratislava, has officially announced that he will run for reelection. He leads the Team Bratislava party, which has formed a coalition with the SaS, Progresívne Slovensko, and the Democrats to support the current governor, Juraj Droba from SaS. Vallo expressed his belief that this coalition can demonstrate that democratic parties can unite effectively, reaffirming their commitment to working together not just in the upcoming municipal and regional elections this autumn but also in preparation for the parliamentary elections in 2027.
The Bratislava four-party coalition aims to present their own candidates for district mayors in areas where they currently hold mandates, including Staré Mesto, Nové Mesto, Lamač, Vrakuňa, and Podunajské Biskupice. Additionally, they plan to support the current mayors in other parts of the city where they do not have representation. As the political landscape in Bratislava evolves with these intentions, the decision of Smer has yet to be revealed regarding whether current Transport Minister Jozef Ráž will be a candidate for the mayoral position.
With known competition already emerging, including contenders like Dana Čahojová, the mayor of Karlova Ves, and entrepreneur and city-county representative Martin Winkler, the Bratislava mayoral election is shaping up to be significant. The coalition's strategy and Vallo's reelection campaign will undoubtedly influence local governance and political alliances moving forward.
