The president of the UODO punished Karol Nawrocki's electoral committee for disclosing personal data of Mr. Jerzy

The UODO president has fined Karol Nawrocki's electoral committee 35,000 zł for improperly disclosing personal data.

Today, the president of the Office for Personal Data Protection (UODO) announced a fine of 35,000 zł against Karol Nawrocki's electoral committee for disclosing the personal data of an individual named Mr. Jerzy. This incident is part of a series of actions concerning the unauthorized sharing of Mr. Jerzy's information, particularly relating to a small apartment taken over by the current President of Poland. This event also affects several other individuals, including Marta Nawrocka.

This is not the first offense for Nawrocki's electoral committee; previously, they received a reprimand for revealing Mr. Jerzy’s surname. Another electoral committee, led by Rafał Trzaskowski, faced similar issues but responded by promptly removing the data and apologizing for the error. In contrast, Nawrocki's committee has not acknowledged any wrongdoing in their actions, despite being under scrutiny during a time when the general public and media were just beginning to grasp the essentials of data protection.

The UODO's decisions highlight the critical importance of data protection laws in Poland and reflect the ongoing challenges electoral committees face in adhering to these regulations. The case serves as a reminder to all public entities about the responsibility of protecting personal information and the potential legal consequences of failing to comply with these regulations.
