A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Manaus on suspicion of murdering 67-year-old José Domingos da Rocha Martins, whose body was discovered buried in the bathroom of his apartment.

In Manaus, a 27-year-old man has been arrested for the suspected murder of 67-year-old José Domingos da Rocha Martins, known as "Dominguinho." The police discovered Martins's body buried in the bathroom of his studio apartment located in the Zumbi dos Palmares neighborhood. The body was uncovered on February 23, with the suspect, Samuel da Silva Dias, arrested four days later on February 27, in another part of the city.

According to the Civil Police, family members of the victim managed to detain the suspect before the police arrived at the scene. Once apprehended, Samuel indicated where the body was buried but did not confess to the crime. Investigations have revealed that he remained in the victim's apartment for several days after the murder, during which time he reportedly removed numerous belongings from the property with assistance from others.

The police are currently investigating the involvement of additional individuals linked to this case, as inquiries suggest that more than just one person may have been involved in both the murder and the actions taken afterward to conceal the crime. This unsettling incident not only brings to the forefront issues of violence against the elderly but also highlights the need for stronger community vigilance and support for vulnerable populations in the area.
