The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published updated consular information for the Middle East
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously updating travel recommendations for the Middle East due to ongoing military actions in the region.
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it is reviewing travel recommendations for the Middle East on a daily basis due to the ongoing military conflicts in the region. Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that the ministry is assessing the situation hour by hour and remains in constant communication with other countries. The primary advice for citizens currently in the region is to stay where they are and wait until airspace reopens and commercial flights resume. Additionally, the ministry is prepared to organize special flights if necessary.
A significant number of countries in the Middle East have closed their airspaces and airports, creating uncertainty for travelers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized that it cannot predict when airspace will be open or closed, and having open airspace does not guarantee the operation of all flights. Minister Tsahkna highlighted the importance of citizens following local channels and instructions from the host country to ensure their safety amid the volatile situation.
In light of the prevalence of misinformation on social media, the ministry advises individuals to rely only on official channels for updates both in Estonia and in the host country. This proactive approach aims to safeguard citizens and streamline communication during times of crisis, reflecting the ministry's commitment to ensuring the safety of Estonians abroad amid the unfolding events in the Middle East.
