Pictures: An exhibition based on the animated film 'Snow Guides Us' opened in Telliskivi

An art exhibition based on the awarded animated film 'Snow Guides Us' opened at the Konteiner gallery in Telliskivi.

The Konteiner gallery in the Telliskivi Creative City opened an art exhibition titled 'Snow Guides Us', inspired by Natalia Mirzoyan's award-winning animated film. This film had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025 and has since won nearly 20 awards across various animation and film festivals globally, also receiving the best animated film award from the cultural capital for 2025. The exhibition reflects themes from the short film 'Winter in March', which draws on interviews conducted by the author addressing the poignant issue of Russian emigration, particularly relevant since the onset of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

The film features characters Dasha and Kirill, who struggle to reconcile their feelings about their homeland's actions. Feeling helpless before a repressive state, they decide to leave Russia. Their journey to Georgia becomes a haunting nightmare, culminating in the terrifying prospect of being separated at the border. The exhibition not only showcases visual art inspired by this narrative but also extends the experience created in the film by bringing it to life in the gallery setting, enhancing the emotional depth of the story and its relevance in current geopolitical contexts.

As the themes of emigration and the experience of oppressive regimes resonate deeply with contemporary audiences, the exhibition serves as a poignant reminder of the personal stories behind larger political issues. By merging artistic expression with relevant social commentary, 'Snow Guides Us' seeks to provoke thought and dialogue among viewers, encouraging them to reflect on the implications of forced migration, identity, and resilience in the face of adversity.
