Massive strike canceled

A significant strike planned by the JHL union has been canceled after reaching a negotiation agreement with employers.

The JHL union (Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors) has called off a planned massive strike that was set to commence on March 3, 2023, and run through March 5, 2023. The decision came after the union and the employer organization Hali ry reached a successful negotiation concerning the private social services sector. This agreement alleviates concerns over work disruptions for the week.

In a statement, JHL indicated that other unions involved in the agreement would discuss membership issues this week and would provide updates regarding the outcomes afterward. The strike notice had initially sparked concerns over potential disruptions in social services during the specified period, raising the stakes for negotiations between the parties involved.

Additionally, the JHL had issued another strike notice for a separate strike scheduled for March 10-12, 2023. Other unions, including Jyty, Pro, Tehy, Super, Erto, and Terveydenhoitajaliitto, also announced their plans to escalate labor actions, hinting at ongoing tensions in negotiations within the sector, emphasizing the need for further discussions to ensure stability in social services moving forward.
