A Russian drone strike on a passenger train in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has resulted in one death and seven injuries, highlighting ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
In a recent incident in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a Russian drone strike targeted a suburban passenger train, leading to the death of one person and injuring seven others. The strike occurred in the Kryvyi Rih district, where the drone hit one of the train's carriages, igniting a fire and causing panic among passengers. The attack underscores the risks faced by civilians as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, with a notable focus on transportation infrastructure.
Olexandr Hanzha, the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, commented on the event via social media, confirming the death of an injured man who succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Among the injured were a 10-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male, adding a somber note to the tragedy as it reveals the indiscriminate nature of the violence. Five individuals are still receiving treatment, with their conditions reported as moderate.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba condemned the strike as yet another attack on civilian life, emphasizing the ongoing threat posed to Ukrainian citizens by foreign aggression. This incident serves as a reminder of the precarious situation faced by non-combatants and the challenges that lie ahead for the state-run railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, as it continues to operate amid such dangers.
