Finland's renowned cross-country skier Iivo Niskanen is making his comeback to competitive skiing during the FIS Nordic World Cup events hosted in Salpausselkä from March 5 to 8. The weekend will kick off on Thursday with the women’s individual race, followed by both men's and women's individual competitions taking place on Friday at the HS130 ski jump in Lahti. Saturday will feature another men's individual event, concluding with the ski jump Super Team competition for men on Sunday evening.

The schedule also includes Nordic Combined events, starting on Friday with individual competitions for both women and men, followed by a mixed pairs sprint event on Saturday. In cross-country skiing, races will begin with free technique sprints on Saturday, with traditional 10-kilometer interval races set for Sunday, displaying the blend of styles typical of Nordic skiing contests.

The Finnish team will feature a host of elite athletes, including Iivo Niskanen, who returns to the race tracks for the first time since the Olympics, marking a significant moment for both the athlete and his fans.
