David Sánchez presents himself at the headquarters of the Audiencia de Badajoz to collect his trial summons

David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón has personally collected his court summons for a trial involving administrative corruption and influence peddling.

David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón arrived early this morning at the Provincial Court of Badajoz, accompanied by his lawyer Emilio Cortés, to personally collect the judicial summons for his trial. This legal proceeding involves Sánchez and ten others, including the former secretary general of the PSOE of Extremadura, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, who are facing charges of administrative prevarication and influence peddling related to Sánchez’s acquisition of a job at the Diputación de Badajoz. The court hearings are scheduled to take place from May 28 to June 4.

Despite repeated requests from the court, Sánchez has not disclosed his current home address for receiving judicial notifications pertaining to the proceedings. Initially, he proposed the address of his lawyer's office in Cáceres, but this was rejected by the judicial authority. Consequently, Sánchez has chosen to continue withholding his residential information while making arrangements to collect his legal notifications in person.

This case highlights issues of corruption and influence within political circles in Extremadura, particularly involving individuals connected to significant political parties in the region. The outcome of this trial could have implications for public trust in governance and the handling of corruption in local administrations, especially as it brings to light the intersection between personal relationships and public appointments in Spain's political landscape.
