The City Hall of Angra dos Reis is starting slope stabilization works due to recent heavy rains, with traffic adjustments in the affected areas.
The City Hall of Angra dos Reis has initiated slope stabilization works starting on Monday, due to recent heavy rains that have raised concerns about landslides in various parts of the city. The construction will take place on Rua Prefeito João Gregório Galindo, known as Estrada Angra-Getulândia, as well as in the areas of Morro do Tatu, Volta Fria, Morro da Glória, and the Trevo de São Cristóvão, which are particularly vulnerable to erosion.
The municipal government has stated that the construction will run from 7 AM to 5 PM, employing a stop-and-go traffic system to ensure safety and manage the flow of vehicles in these areas. These works are part of a broader set of measures taken in response to the emergency situation declared in the municipality following the recent intense rainfall, which has impacted infrastructure and raised safety concerns for residents.
In addition to removing earth and rocks from the affected slopes, the project aims to clean and stabilize the hillsides to prevent further erosion and potential landslides. The proactive approach by the local government highlights their commitment to safeguarding public safety and addressing the immediate challenges posed by the natural disaster, ensuring that residents can feel secure in their community amid ongoing weather challenges.
