The Vilnius Book Fair’s ‘Music Hall’ changes its rhythm: will invite you to meet at another time in 2027
The ‘Music Hall’ event at the Vilnius Book Fair will not take place as usual in February 2027 due to Lithuania's EU Council presidency, and has been rescheduled to September 16-19, 2027.
The Vilnius Book Fair's ‘Music Hall’ event is set to undergo a significant schedule change in 2027 because of the country's crucial role in presiding over the Council of the European Union. The prominent exhibition space LITEXPO will be reserved for international events during the first half of 2027, preventing major local events such as ‘Music Hall’ and the Vilnius Book Fair from occurring in their traditional February slot. The shift in schedule reflects the importance of this period for Lithuania, as the country prepares for this historic responsibility on the EU stage.
In considering how to navigate this challenge, various scenarios were proposed, including relocating the event to different venues, taking a year off, or setting a new date later in the year. However, after assessing the lack of alternative locations in Lithuania that could accommodate such large-scale events with the needed infrastructure, the decision was made to move both the ‘Music Hall’ and the Vilnius Book Fair to September 16-19, 2027. This compromise aims to maintain the continuity of these culturally significant events within the community.
Agnė Begetė, the director of AGATA, reassured attendees that this is a unique situation and both events would return to their regular February schedule in 2028. The decision to reschedule serves to ensure that the ‘Music Hall’, which is recognized as a community gathering, can continue without interruption, reflecting the importance it holds for the local culture and community engagement. The organizers have committed to preserving the event's legacy despite this temporary change in its timeline.
