Iran announces it has attacked Netanyahu's office, says agency

The Iranian government claims to have attacked the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, targeting also the headquarters of the Israeli Air Force commander.

On October 2, the Iranian government declared that it had conducted an attack on the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to reports from the AFP news agency. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard asserted that a barrage of missiles was aimed at Netanyahu's office as well as the headquarters of the Israeli Air Force commander. The Israeli government had not responded to these claims by the time the report was updated.

Iran's Chief of Security, Ali Larijani, emphasized that the country would not negotiate with the United States, directly contradicting statements from former President Donald Trump. Trump claimed that the new Iranian leadership was interested in resuming negotiations, which has significant implications for U.S.-Iran relations. This statement from Larijani indicates a persistent tension and a firm stance from Iran against engaging with the U.S.

Additionally, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had communicated to Omani Chancellor Badr Albusaidi over the weekend that Tehran was open to 'serious efforts' aimed at reducing tensions following the recent hostilities. This dual narrative from Iranian officials highlights the complex dynamics at play within Iran's foreign policy, particularly in relation to its stance towards Israel and the United States, and raises questions about the future of diplomatic interactions in the region.
