Amid the ongoing war in Gaza, a new initiative called 'Colors from the Heart of Gaza' has emerged to provide children with a window to light through the power of art. Supported by the emergency program 'Raha' in partnership with the Abdul Mohsin Qattan Foundation, this initiative highlights that art in Gaza is not a luxury but a lifeline for many. It is designed to offer a safe haven for children and their families through artistic workshops and performative activities that help them process trauma and regain a sense of life amidst the destruction and despair around them.

Over the course of four weeks, children aged between 12 and 16 participated in art workshops aimed at transforming pain into color and fear into a safe space for expression. These workshops were not merely classes in drawing; they served as therapeutic sessions where children utilized colors to narrate their daily lives in makeshift tents. They illustrated their surroundings, depicting the cold tents that deprived them of warmth and the fishing nets and fish from Gaza, symbolizing both their livelihood and losses.

Through this creative outlet, the initiative represents more than just art. It embodies a step toward healing and reclaiming the Palestinian narrative in its authentic form, despite the ongoing suffering and destruction. Each space opened for expression is seen as a crucial move towards restoring the community's spirit and preserving the voices of its children, emphasizing that protecting a society involves safeguarding its intellectuals and youth, enabling them to share their stories and experiences freely.
