Critical Infrastructure: UP and largest private energy company DTEK join forces to support media outlets in frontline regions
Ukrainska Pravda and DTEK are collaborating to support independent media in frontline areas of Ukraine through a new initiative called Critical Infrastructure.
Ukrainska Pravda, a prominent Ukrainian news outlet, has partnered with DTEK, the country's largest private energy company, to launch a social initiative named Critical Infrastructure. This initiative aims to provide financial support to independent regional media outlets located in frontline areas that are severely impacted by the ongoing war with Russia. By creating a special merchandise collection, they intend to generate funds that will be allocated to various media teams in towns like Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kherson.
The media outlets benefiting from this initiative operate under challenging circumstances, combating not only the dangers posed by the ongoing conflict but also the constant threat of disinformation and propaganda from Russian sources. These independent media organizations have a crucial role in documenting war crimes, exposing misinformation, and providing reliable information to local communities β or hromadas β which are essential for the population's resilience during the conflict.
The initiative comes at a critical juncture when information pressure is intense in frontline regions, underscoring the importance of local journalism in safeguarding truth and accountability. Support for such outlets can help ensure that communities have access to verified information, which is vital for their survival and decision-making during a period of instability. This collaboration reflects the urgent need for solidarity between different sectors in Ukraine as the nation continues to endure the hardships of wartime conditions.
