Long Pursuit on Foot: Teen Boys Fled from Police
Two underage boys who were driving a car fled on foot from the police in Kontiolahti.
On Sunday evening, police in Kontiolahti were conducting traffic surveillance when they spotted two underage boys traveling in a car. Upon noticing the police, the boys attempted to flee the scene on foot, prompting a chase by the officers who traversed several yards and properties in pursuit.
One of the boys was apprehended near a stopping point, while the second was caught after a prolonged chase, several kilometers away, in the yard of a detached house. The incident is currently under investigation, with authorities looking into charges related to endangering traffic safety and unauthorized operation of a vehicle. Notably, one of the suspects is under 15 years old, which has led to notification being made to child protection authorities.
The police have informed local residents that any traces found on their yards may be connected to the law enforcement operation. This incident raises concerns regarding teenage driving and safety, particularly in rural areas like Kontiolahti, where law enforcement may need to employ more resources to combat underage driving and ensure community safety.
