World Masters Games for athletes aged 30 and over, entry begins

Registration has started for the World Masters Games 2027 Kansai, an international sports event open to participants aged 30 and above.

Registration for the World Masters Games (WMG) 2027 Kansai, an international sports event for athletes aged 30 and over, began on the 2nd of the month. The event is scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 30 of next year, with registration open until February. Participants can register through the organizing committee's official website. On the day registration opened, comedians from Yoshimoto Kogyo and announcers from local television stations in Osaka encouraged potential athletes to join. Yagami Masumi from the comedy duo Savannah mentioned his participation in karate and highlighted the importance of setting an entry goal to motivate his training.

Originally slated for 2021, the WMG was postponed until 2027 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will feature 35 sports and 59 events, hosted across two prefectures and seven other regions, including Fukui, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Tottori, and Tokushima. According to the organizing committee, the event aims to promote active lifestyles and offer a platform for seasoned athletes to showcase their skills in a competitive yet enjoyable environment.
