Eira Scheper (Coffee Roaster): "Tap water can kill a good coffee"
Eira Scheper, a specialty coffee expert and the founder of Eira's Coffee, discusses her transformation from a coffee skeptic to an aficionado and her new book about coffee appreciation and preparation.
Eira Scheper, a 32-year-old specialty coffee roaster from Barcelona, has undergone a remarkable transformation in her relationship with coffee. Initially, she disliked the beverage, drinking it only with milk and sugar to avoid its bitter taste. However, a pivotal experience in Indonesia in 2017, where she tasted specialty coffee that was fruity rather than bitter, opened her palate and inspired a deep exploration of the coffee world. This journey has included studying coffee tasting, roasting, and green bean analysis, which ultimately led her to start her own coffee brand, Eira's Coffee, specializing in ethically sourced beans from countries like Colombia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Honduras, and China.
