Online shopping will now be cheaper! Amazon's decision benefits millions
Amazon India has announced a significant reduction in shipping charges for products priced below 300 rupees, benefiting both customers and sellers.
Amazon India has recently made a major announcement that will positively impact both customers and sellers on its platform. Effective from March 16, the company will reduce shipping charges by 20% for products priced below 300 rupees. This decision is expected to enhance online shopping affordability, especially for low-cost items, thereby potentially increasing sales for sellers and improving customer satisfaction.
In addition to the reduction in shipping fees, Amazon is expanding its zero referral fee structure for products priced between 300 to 1000 rupees. Previously, Amazon India had eliminated referral fees for products under 300 rupees last year in April; the expansion to a broader pricing range indicates a strategic move to attract more sellers and offer customers a wider selection of affordable products. The zero referral fee policy, which ranges from 2% to 16.5% on product sales, now includes 1,800 categories, encouraging sellers to list their products without the concern of high commission costs.
This initiative is particularly timely, considering the competitive landscape of e-commerce in India, with other platforms also vying for market share by implementing customer-friendly policies. Given the economic constraints faced by many consumers, Amazon’s move to lower costs can potentially lead to increased shopper engagement and conversion rates, benefiting the overall ecosystem of online retail in the country.
