Haryanvi singer and dancer Sapna Chaudhary spoke out about facing harassment during an event as well as the challenges she faced in her career, including numerous legal cases against her.
Sapna Chaudhary, popularly known as the 'Haryanvi Queen', recently shared her experiences on the show 'The 50', discussing both her rise in the entertainment industry and the dark phases she has faced. During the conversation, she revealed that her career has been marred by significant challenges, including harassment incidents at events, which she described vividly. She recounted a particularly distressing incident where she faced harassment, stating that in the volatile atmosphere of her performances, fights and chaos often broke out, leading to many legal issues surrounding her shows.
Chaudhary disclosed that she currently has around 35 registered legal cases against her, stemming from incidents at her performances where safety measures broke down, resulting in chaos and unrest. She mentioned that due to these incidents, she is banned from performing in several places including Badaud and Meerut, as no permissions are granted under her name for any shows. This has impacted her career significantly, especially following her appearance on the reality show 'Bigg Boss' in 2018, which was a turning point for her as she started receiving better opportunities thereafter.
Reflecting on her journey, Sapna also shared a personal anecdote about a time when her family struggled financially. She described a moment of desperation where both she and her mother awaited any call for a show, highlighting the precarious nature of a performer’s life. This incident, alongside her recent experiences, illustrates not only the personal battles she has fought but also the broader issues of safety and respect faced by women in the entertainment industry.
