Justice has been looking for Ratinho for months over accusations against Chico Buarque

Brazilian media personality Ratinho has evaded official attempts by the judiciary to address accusations made against renowned musician Chico Buarque.

Five months after a court order requiring the television presenter Ratinho to either explain or retract his accusations against the celebrated Brazilian musician Chico Buarque, law enforcement officials have struggled to locate him for official citation. Initially, attempts to reach Ratinho focused on his home state of Paraná where his company is based; however, since February 5, efforts have shifted to São Paulo, including searches at SBT's headquarters in Osasco where he hosts his show, but to no avail.

The presenter’s advisory team has declined to comment on ongoing legal processes. On Friday, an officer of justice handling the case reported to the judge that she had visited the legal department of SBT, gaining access to Ratinho's lawyer’s contact details, whose office is located in Paraná. Nonetheless, she noted that she had not received any response from the attorney regarding the delivery of the citation, as he was reportedly going on medical leave. Consequently, this has necessitated the appointment of a new officer to pursue the case.

Chico Buarque has filed a lawsuit against Ratinho over these accusations, which points to an escalating conflict between two significant cultural figures in Brazil. The ongoing legal struggle illustrates the complexities involved in public disputes, especially when they intersect with the judicial system and highlight the challenges faced by the authorities in executing court orders against high-profile individuals.
