Appeal for information about newborn boy left at Canberra fire station
Authorities in Canberra are seeking information about a newborn boy left at a fire station as they look to determine his future care arrangements.
A newborn boy was discovered outside the South Tuggeranong Fire and Rescue Station in Conder, Canberra, on November 27. Since being found, he has been placed with foster carers under the supervision of the ACT's Children, Youth and Families service and is reportedly 'thriving' in their care. The ACT government has now issued a public appeal for information to help in making future care decisions for the child, particularly asking for input from the boy's birth mother and close family members.
The director-general of the Health and Community Services Directorate, Anne-Marie Sabellico, emphasized the boy's safety and health, stating that while he is currently well, it's crucial to gather information that can guide decisions about his ongoing care. This information is sought from individuals who might have knowledge about the circumstances surrounding the boy's abandonment, ensuring that the child’s future can be addressed appropriately.
This appeal comes after a period of concern following the boy's abandonment. Authorities have clarified that no crime has been committed in this case, relieving any potential worries surrounding the legal implications of the situation. They are encouraging anyone with pertinent information to contact Crime Stoppers, highlighting the need for community support in resolving this delicate matter.
