Driving practice with alcohol in both driver and instructor

Police in Kongsvinger intervened during a driving practice session after receiving reports of erratic driving caused by both the student driver and instructor being under the influence of alcohol.

On a Sunday evening, police in Kongsvinger responded to a tip-off regarding a vehicle observed driving erratically on Riksvei 2 near Roverud. Upon stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver, who was engaged in a practice driving session, along with their supervisor, both registered a blood alcohol content exceeding the legal limit.

The police log detailed that both the driver and the instructor, individuals in their late 40s and early 50s with local ties, were subsequently taken for medical testing to secure evidence, which included a blood sample. Such incidents raise concerns about road safety, particularly around the practice of driving under the influence, which poses significant risks not only to the individuals involved but to other road users as well.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the instructor's driving license was not confiscated due to a low alcohol reading. This incident highlights the ongoing issues surrounding alcohol consumption and driving practices in Norway, prompting discussions about stricter measures and laws to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
