“Peek-a-boo, here I come,” says the sun soon

Norwegian meteorologist Per Egil Haga announces an upcoming spell of spring weather across Norway, but warns of potential hazards due to melting and refreezing conditions.

In Norway, spring weather is on the horizon, particularly in the southern regions, where sunshine and minimal precipitation are expected. Meteorologist Per Egil Haga indicates that people can look forward to sunnier days, especially in southern Norway, as mild air masses start to dominate. However, he also mentions that there will be no immediate disappearance of snow, as the melting will occur gradually over time.

Despite the warm weather anticipated for much of the country, precautions must be taken, especially regarding potential icy conditions. Haga warns of melting and refreezing, which could create slick roads and lead to accidents. A yellow warning for ice has already been issued for large parts of Eastern Norway due to these conditions. The first Monday of March will be gray, but sunshine will likely follow in the days thereafter, particularly in Southeast Norway.

On the other hand, northern regions will not experience the same sunny spring conditions. Instead, areas like Northland and Troms may face heavy precipitation in the form of rain, driven by powerful low-pressure systems, which could also bring strong winds. This contrast highlights the variability of weather conditions across Norway and the need for ongoing vigilance as conditions transition into spring.
